Belief☟
Believing in yourself is hard. When I do, my mind turns itself on me. There is often a question, “How dare you be so sure of yourself?” replacing a statement - “Hey, you’re doing pretty good right now” I’m not sure what function/section of the brain orchestrates this prank on me, but the joke is getting old. Maybe I am too.
There are many things I’m grateful for re: the process of aging. One is being able to (somewhat) more efficiently recognize when I’m treating myself poorly and the consequences of doing so. It still takes work to rewire the pathways that create negative cyclical thinking, but I come back quicker. Believing in yourself IS hard, but it’s also really fucking great.
Right now I’m tying to get to a place of loving-kindess sans being hyper-critical or playing devil’s advocate. A little more “pop off, jeff!” and less “cool it, buddy.” Turning on myeslf has left me empty handed too many times. Not going to do it (as much) anymore.

Headcleaner Sept ‘22☟
If you’re new here (hi!!), Headcleaner is a monthly (subscriber-only) playlist compiled of every song I share to my IG stories. Gotta admit, this month’s has some real rippers. Always love putting these together - each one feels a bit like a time capsule and reminds me where my head was at when I shared each tune. Listen here. Hope you find something you dig.
