Rain, Rain, Rain☟
Rain, rain, rain, you're lonesome company.
But it's just you and me tonight.
Rain, rain, rain, sing your song to me.
It won't be long till the morning light.
Now everybody knows the hard times blues.
And it ain't good to let them get you down.
But every now and then no matter how you try
Seems like old man trouble comes around.
Good times come and good times go
Just like the seasons passing by
Hard times come with the lessons you know:
Know how to laugh and how to cry.
Rain, rain, rain.
Been an oddly warm fall in rip city. The rain has finally come and I’m here for it. Blazers are off to a real nice start to their season, Grateful Shred came to town, and I’m looking ahead to new music and performances in 2023. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together. For now it’s hurry up and wait.
Fall/Winter ‘22 DJ Sets☟
Will be announcing my first run of live 2023 performances next week. In the meantime, will be rounding out the year with a handful of DJ sets in and around Portland. Looking forward to being back in wine-country for a set at HiFi Wine Bar + checking out the recently opened Trout Lake Hall in Washington. DJing allows me to use different creative muscles and I’m grateful for every opportunity to share sounds that resonate deeply with me. Artwork by Sophie Sachar.
A Conversation with John Darnielle (Mountain Goats)☟
The last time I saw The Mountain Goats perform, John Darnielle was singing death metal covers on a grand piano accompanied by a barbershop quartet. It was an honor to catch up with him for the Creative Independent. As someone who has always pursued multiple ‘career’ paths simultaneously, I admire John’s fearlessness as both songwriter and author. Was a joy to hear him speak to removing expectations, using doubt as motivation, separating yourself from your work, and honoring the creative process inside you. Read our full conversation here.
