The Year of May☟
This month has felt more like a year. It’s hard to fathom how much has happened. Other than getting COVID for the first time ( writing this with a decent dose of brain fog), it’s been beautiful. Put out a record, held a listening party at my favorite record store, adopted our new pup (meet Jeff!), spent time with my parents then played four shows opening for Fruit Bats including my first in Canada! After our recent performance at Revolution Hall in Portland, a kind soul bought both my LPs for $100 then looked me dead in the eyes and said ‘never stop making music.’ Told him it’s a promise. Y’all can hold me to it. Photo above by Jared Lichtenberg.
Western Sky Music - Out Now☟
Western Sky Music, my second LP for Arrowhawk Records is officially yours. I am overjoyed with the response so far and grateful to anyone who has purchased a record, spent time with the album, added a song to a playlist, written about the music, or came out to a show. This record is rooted in collaboration and I want to give another special shoutout to Barry Walker Jr, Ryan Oxford, Alex Chapman, Dana Buoy, Alyssa DeHayes and Sunny Eckerle for making this one a reality. Black and white vinyl (a la carte + bundle options) are moving quick if you’re still looking to grip. Side note - also running dangerously low on copies of You Become the Mountain.
West Coasting 2023☟
Could not be more excited to get back on the road this summer. Rippin’ shows along the west coast from San Diego back up to Portland starting July 19th. Will have my Portland rhythm section in tow plus one of Austin’s finest steel-ists Zack Wiggs. Advance tickets for San Diego, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland and Seattle are on sale now (and highly recommended/appreciated.) All other shows are either free or tickets available day of/at door. Stacked bills, a a guaranteed good time. Artwork by Nathaniel Russell.

A Conversation w/ Nathaniel Russell☟
Speaking of Nathaniel Russell, I recently had a great chat with him for the Creative Independent. Nat is one of my all time favorite artists so it was a joy to listen to him zone in on taking risks, accepting your shortcomings, being present in the moment, and what you can learn from repetition. Read our full convo here.
Studio Spotlight - Love Magnet☟
For my latest for Reverb, I had the pleasure of catching up with Los Angeles based recordist and musician Ian Doerr, owner of Love Magnet, a gear repair shop turned analog studio in Highland Park. Ian has a super interesting background and approach to recording/working with analog gear. Could have kept chatting for hours. Check out the full piece here.
Podcast Interview- An Impossible Way of Life (Easy Rider Soundtrack)☟
My buddies over at Impossible Way of Life were kind enough to have me on their podcast to talk Easy Rider - a film and soundtrack that changed my life. I simply cant recommend digging into past IWOL episodes enough and becoming a Patreon to stay up to date with all the latest. Listen to the episode here.
