What Comes After Certainty☟
Well, I never thought I'd make it this far
Little old house, recent-model car
And I got the woman of my dreams
And an imitation Eames
True love is not magic
It's certainty
There’s much to be grateful for this holiday season. Wherever and however you chose to celebrate (even if it’s not at all), I hope you’re able to find a peaceful moment or two as we enter a new month. (Linda Belcher Voice): thanks for being here.
Tracksmith x East Fork Guest Mix☟
Movement is a medium for connection. It's also a reminder - as long as you’re moving, you're still here. I'm grateful for that reminder each time I run. To help launch the East Fork x Tracksmith holiday collaboration, I curated a 60 min mix designed to get you moving on days where you'd rather do anything else. I also spoke with the East Fork team about the link between running and my creative process via IG live. You can listen to the mix here + rewatch our conversation here.
Keeping the Pedal Steel Guitar Alive☟
For my latest feature for Splice, I spoke with five modern players for a roundtable discussion about their history, approach, and relationship with the pedal steel. A huge thank you to Zena Kay, Nicole Lawrence, Rhodri Brooks, Barry Walker, and Chuck Johnson for taking the time and to my editor Shannon Byrne who always lets me run wild with ideas. Had a real nice time putting this one together. Full article here.
December DJ Sets☟
Slowly but surely becoming part of the DJ community here in Portland and I’ve gotta say: feels good man. There is something beautiful about knowing you are providing the soundtrack to a potential first date, friends reconnecting, or someone just taking a load off. Sharing music that is near and dear to my heart in front of strangers and watching their reactions will never cease to amaze me. If you’re in/around Portland, here’s where I’ll be spinning records in December:
+ Saturday 12/11 at HiFi Wine Bar (McMinnville, 6-10pm)
+ Thursday 12/16 at Kenton Club (Portland, 7-11pm)
+ Sunday 12.19 at Mad Hanna (Portland, 4-730pm)
