Writing Again☟
It feels good to be writing again
Clear water flows from my pen
And it sure feels good to be writing again
I'm stuck in the high rapids' edge, night closes in
It feels good to be singing again
Yeah, it sure feels good to be singing again
From the mountain and the mountain within
Bill said it best (as per usual). Feeling grateful to be writing (this newsletter + new music + more) again. Thanks for opening/reading.
Torii Gates Out Now☟
Torii Gates is OUT NOW (!!!) on Arrowhawk Records. A huge thank you to anyone/everyone who has bought, shared, or listened to this EP thus far. Feeling v. nice to have new music in the world. Tapes are movin’ quick — today is the LAST day to use code ‘tripsitting’ to grab ANYTHING in the Arrowhawk shop for 20% off. There are also only a handful of You Become the Mountain tapes left from a second run we did. Hoping to announce a handful of late summer/early fall shows over the next month or two. Keep an eye on my IG page for updates. Demos for LP2 are coming right along.
First Flower: Songs for Spring☟
I first caught wind of Melbourne, Australia’s Bedroom Suck Records via Blue Divers. Their self-titled LP from 2020 was one of my favorite ambient records of the year. More recently they put out A Cassowary Apart, the debut collaborative release from Andrew Tuttle and Padang Food Tigers, a tremendous experimental folk record. I was stoked to put together a guest mix for them this month. First Flower: Songs for a (Northern) Spring celebrates the first buds of spring as they push through soil in the northern hemisphere. Listen here.
Future Folk☟
The Slow Music Movement is a blog, radio, show and label out of London and one of my favorite places for music discovery. Their latest release is a compilation titled Future Folk: Friendly Faces; Different Spaces. It's a vivid snapshot of where folk has been, where it's at and where it might be heading from some wonderful modern artists. Had the honor of contributing a demo to the comp called ‘this and also.’ 10% of all label sales/streaming revenue will go to Client Earth to help mitigate our environmental impact.
Ted Freaks Unite☟
Calling all Ted-Heads. It’s So Easy (When You Know What You’re Doing): a Tribute to Ted Lucas is out 5/14 on Perpetual Doom. Curating this release was a dream project of mine. We recently released two more covers from John Andrews (who also has a new album out 5/14!) and Amelia Courthouse. Keep an eye on Aquarium Drunkard next week as we roll out more jams. Lots of limited edition Ted merch (including a new button + sticker set) available for grabs. Tapes have already begun shipping.
Felt Time - Episodes 17 & 18☟
Felt Time is almost 20 episodes deep! I recently brought my close friend Alex Crowson (great musician + podcaster) on board for a production assist. The latest episodes are sounding better than ever (if i do say so myself). You can catch up via the archive here. Art by Sunny Eckerle.
