Boosted☟
Just got back from getting my COVID booster and am writing as the pain in my left arm starts to set in. It’s cold, rainy, and grey here in Portland and I just had to cancel my first show of 2022. Had a wonderful Christmas down south, but things are feeling particularly heavy right in mind/body/spirit. I just don’t have it in me to wax poetic about 2021. I’m ready to put it to bed. Which is exactly where I plan to be for the next couple of days. Please take care of yourself so that we can take care of one another. I love the living you. Talk to you in the new year.
Guest Mix - Faded Era☟
Earlier this year I gifted my partner a bouquet of dried floral from Faded Era. Run by PDX musician Sarah Roser, Faded Era creates custom bouquets via sustainably sourced flowers from the Pacific Northwest that (literally) last forever. Sarah kindly invited me to curate a guest mix for her weekly ‘Faded Era Radio’ series on Spotify. Listen to the mix here + be sure to check out Sarah’s band Candace.
Felt Time 23 - Dune Buggy Radio☟
After a brief hiatus, I’m super excited to be back on the airwaves via Dune Buggy Radio. Couldn’t quite keep up with a bi-weekly pace so pivoting to a monthly (every third Tuesday 7-9PST) slot moving forward. Episode 23 aired earlier this month. All previous episodes are archived via my Mixcloud page.
A conversation with Amelia Randall Meath (Sylvan Esso/Mountain Man)☟
I recently had a wonderful conversation with Amelia Randall Meath of Sylvan Esso/Mountain Man for the Creative Independent. Amelia spoke to looking back at your older work, processing things by speaking them aloud, and the need for conversation, community, and magic. Read the interview here + follow along with her new label Psychic Hotline who are firmly rooted in creative support and innovative marketing approaches that widen the possibilities, and accessibility, of releasing music.
January DJ Sets☟
If you’re in the Portland area, I’ve got a handful of DJ sets coming up this month. First up is a happy-hour set 1/14 at Dig A Pony. The following Sunday (1/16) is my monthly Saloon Sunday slot over at Mad Hanna and I’m headed to McMinnville, OR to spin at the HiFi Wine Bar on 1/22. Please roll thru if you’re in the zone.
Year End Love for Torii Gates☟
It was a real nice surprise to see Torii Gates pop up on of year end lists alongside some of my favorite records released in 2021. Looking for new jams? Do yourself a favor and dig into recaps from Aquarium Drunkard, Petal Motel, New Commute and Raven Sings the Blues. Thank you again to everyone/anyone who listened, purchased, or shared my music this year. Cannot wait to release new sounds in 2022.
