Kenshō (見性)☟
I can feel, hear, and see my self aging more than ever before. In conversations, on long runs, and in my mind. There is a new self emerging, one I’m excited to know. Kenshō (見性) is a Japanese term from the Zen tradition usually translated as “seeing one’s (true) nature. Not quite there (perhaps ‘there’ doesn’t exist) but am certainly on the path. My intent is to just keep walking. Perhaps ours will cross (in-person) somewhere down the line. Wouldn’t that be something?
Guest Mix + Interview -Electric Rabbit Radio Hour☟
Fall tends to be a deep-listening season for me. Music hits different as the light, color, and temperature begin to change. On a recent episode of Electric Rabbit Radio Hour (via Frozen Section Radio), I tried to get to the bottom of why that is with host/musician Michael C Dugay. Also selected some fall-favorites that have been on heavy rotation. Tracklist above. Listen back to our chat + my song selections here.
A Conversation With Gia Margaret☟
The Creative Independent (a growing resources of emotional and practical guidance for creative people) just turned five! It’s been an honor to contribute to such a meaningful publication. Earlier this month I had the opportunity to speak with Chicago based singer-songwriter/producer Gia Margaret. Much of what Gia shared resonated heavily with me, especially in regards to given myself permission to not always be creating. Read our full conversation here and PLEASE spend some time with her music if you never have before.
Live in Los Angeles☟
Anyone else heading to any of the Dead and Co. shows at Hollywood Bowl last weekend of October? I’ll be there Friday night and am sneaking in a show while I’m in town. Really looking forward to performing at Permanent Records Roadhouse 10/30 with old friend Jason Rueger. Will be an outdoor, matinee show on their patio. RSVP here. If you’re in LA, please some say hello!
LP2☟
Recording LP2 is off to a strong start. Communication between musicians is one of the most beautiful things I will ever experience and I’m feeling grateful to work with people who are equally as kind as they are talented. Going to take my time with this one and invest in the process. More on that when there’s more to share.
